200 points can be exchange to 1 token for online calculation

1) Open VVDI MB Tool

2) click on POINTS SYSTEM

3) in new window click ONLINE VERYFI BE KEY

4) You will see message"Input VVDI BE key to VVDI MB and press OK!".

5) Insert the PCB of BE key into VVDI MB and click OK

6) If Key have points you will see message "This BE key has bonus points".

If POINTS already used you will see message: This BE key doesn't have bonus points, it bonus points was already used!

7) Click UPLOAD POINTS to upload it to your VVDI MB tool

How to use ISCANCAR VAG MM-007 Simulate MQB?

Xhorse VAG MM007 now supports simulation of MQB platform Engine+Gateway+BCM. You can add MQB key withVAG MM-007 and dashboard. Here is some steps.

1: Collect control unit data, and use VAG MM007 to collect engine, gateway, and BCM data respectively.

Main Menu ->Simulator-> Data Acquisition.

2: Start the simulation, there are two ways to start the simulation.

Method 1: Enter VAG-MM007 Main Menu -> Device Simulation -> Start Simulation -> Select SD Card File to start simulation, follow the prompts.

Select the collected engine, BCM, gateway data file. The simulation starts automatically after the file selection is completed, and then execution begins.

Part 1: GDS2

In 2010, GM made a change in their vehicles moving to a Global platform to simplify marketing their vehicles all around the world.

The communication systems changed and the Tech 2 scan tool was no longer able to access them.

In preparation for this change, years earlier, GM had released a laptop based Multiple Diagnostic Interface or MDI . The blue box.

Note that theMDI 2is used for reflashingonly but the dealers loved it because it is twice as fast because of its USB connection to the laptop. (The Tech 2 is a Serial connection system and slower to transfer data for reflashing)

Back to the MDI. Global cars like the 2010 :

We are now onto GDS2 which is simply a newer and better versionthan GDS1.

GDS2 requires renewing of the license to use it by visiting the Tis To WEB website at least once a month (if you have a yearly subscription).

Tis To Web as it is called is GM's website to download the scan tool or reflash data to update a vehicles computer.

You download vehicle software to your laptop and then you run the vehicle choice or program to scan from your laptop with the MDI 2 as the interface between your laptop and the vehicle.

You do not HAVE to be 'online' to use GDS2, only download the latest software license to use it by visiting Tis To Web monthly.

When you start GDS2, the bottom of the screen shows how many days left till an update is required.

If expired, simply log in to Tis to Web before you work on a GDS2 vehicle and renew your license then.

The above license requirements don't apply with a 2 day paid pass to use GDS2.

Part 2: Tech2win

GM also came out with a software program calledTech2Win.(Tech 2 for Windows)

This is a Tech 2 emulator that runs on your laptop and simulates the Tech 2 screen and keypad to operate it.

Unfortunately, it leaves something to be desired with limited functions and some lack of actuator tests and incomplete coverage. It does not replace a Tech 2 and is a yearly subscription purchase but it is cheaper.

Tech2Win also cannot be used for Saab or Izusu or Suzuki!

GM really needs a laptop with a Intel I5 quad processor and 4 GIG of RAM plus Windows 7 Professional.

I recommend a refurbished Panasonic Toughbook CF19tablet with 2.5 GHZ I5 quad processor with 4 partitions. You can use1 terabyte solid state hard drives for speed and durability.

1 year warranty though you will probably never have a problem with one of these since they

are solid as a rock. If something were to go wrong after the warranty, I can get it repaired very cheaply. No sweat.

Keep GM by itself to prevent software conflicts and still get use of other operating systems to maximize laptop use with other software programs like Ford, Mazda etc.

When you first start up, the laptop pauses and offers you a screen with the 4 Windows operating systems. Pick which one you want and you are on your way. I also label them to make it more clear what is being chosen.

The UP400 is specially designed to read transponder data (including Mercedes Benz infrared smart key), clone and generate exclusive keys, read/write on-board EEPROM data, and read/write Freescale 9S12 MCUs.

OEM Cummins Insite vs. Snap-On Pro Link Ultra (Review + Images)

OEM Cummins Insiteand Snap-On Pro Link Ultra, which is better? Opinions from Aubrey Lamon:

Cummins Insiteis better at some things, but I can tell you from experience OEM doesn't mean you can change everything. A parameter that is locked can't be changed with Insite either unless your a dealer. Detroit OEM is also useless at times unless if you can change the password on the ECM which happens often on fleet trucks. The older versions of Insite also had a flaw that indicate a throttle position sensor was faulty when it wasn't faulty at all.

Sure OEM will always be better in some ways, but multiple subscriptions can cost more then $5,000 a year. Paccar Davie software is $5,000 a year alone. Not saying Snap-on is the best by any means, but from playing with a Pro Link IQ and a Pro Link Ultra the software does most of the stuff that needs to be done. I did notice Cummins 04 on the Ultra screen which is confusing because I though the software was mainly for 2007 and newer Cummins.

The reality is no non OEM scanner will be better than a laptop with OEM software. Bosch, CanDo, Texa and others may be better then the Pro Link software. I can't say because I have never used them.

Simply, the answer is that BMW designed the charging system with an algorithm that varies the rate of charge by the age and type of the battery installed. Registering a new battery resets the algorithm back to optimal charging voltage for the specified battery.

In detail...the answer: "The negative battery cable has an electronic control unit on the battery end of it called an intelligent battery sensor (IBS). The IBS measures the state of battery charge and sends this information to the ECU. The ECU uses this information to control how much charging voltage is needed from the alternator to support vehicle electricity needs. A battery deteriorates normally over time and depending upon service demands and driving profile. The IBS reads this and the ECU tells the charging system to increase voltage and amperage output incrementally as the battery matures. Therefore, at battery replacement time, if you don't tell the ECU it has a new battery it will overcharge the new battery causing it to wear out faster.

The registration process takes place in the ECU, which is the main player in this system. Also, when the IBS sees that battery voltage is too low for normal vehicle operation it can start shutting down vehicle functions to conserve power while keeping the vehicle operational. This would be accompanied by a check control warning of excessive battery discharge.”

Why do I need to "code" for a new battery:
The answer to this varies. You may not have to! That is, so long as you replace your old battery with an exact replacement. However, if you switch from a wet-cell type battery to an AGM type battery, or vice versa, you must code for the change.

AGM and wet-cell batteries require a different rate of charge output from the alternator. Moving between these two types without coding can lead to over-charging or under-charging.
Also, batteries have a discharge rating called amp hours (ah). You must specify to the DME what the ah” rating of your battery is so the car can run the proper charging algorithm.

Option 1:Carly BMW + ELM327 Adapter

Carly is an Android/iOS app that can be used to painlessly register and code a new battery. Just purchase the app, and the in-app purchase for the battery module, and it walks you through the process.

1) Download the Carly app on your device ($44.99 + $9.99 for battery module). You can have anELM327 OBDII to Bluetooth adapter for use with Carly
2) Verify your OBDII to USB cable is working properly or that your OBDII to Bluetooth adapter is properly paired to your device and communicating with Carly.
3) Purchase the in-app battery module. From here, Carly walks you through the steps of both registering the battery and coding for any changes. Its that simple.

Option 2: Rheingold+ K+DCAN cable

Use Rheingold (ISTA-D) to REGISTER and/or CODE a new battery. The virtual machine, mentioned above, comes pre-loaded with this dealer level software. An ICOM emulator is all setup for you to use this program with the aforementioned K+DCAN cable.

  • Rheingold is an amazing tool. It will automatically diagnose issues with your vehicle and provide a corrective action plan to fix them. It will even tell you the steps you need to take to re-program things with a separate program called ISTA-P.

1) Turn ignition to the on” position. INPA can be used to verify the car is communicating properly. INPA shows when the ignition is in the on/off position.
2) Load Rheingold
3) Click the Identification” tab
4) Click Read out” tab and then start” in the bottom right (takes a long time to gather cars info)
5) Once vehicle info has loaded (verify your vin is accurately displaying) click the Vehicle management” tab
6) Navigate to: Service function>body>voltage supply>battery>register and then click start search”
7) Select result ABL register battery replacement ”
8) Rheingold then walks you through your options! You can simply register a new like-for-like battery, or you can change the battery capacity. Rheingold will prompt you to perform coding usingISTA-P!

Option 3:Ediabas Toolset32+ KDCAN cable

Use Ediabas Toolset32, a software packaged with the BMWtools suite, to REGISTER a new battery

1) Run Tool32.exe
2) Navigate: File>Load SGB>C:/EDIABAS/ECU/[choose the appropriate .prg file for your DME –see appendix A]
3) Look up steuern_batterietausch_registri (near bottom of job list)
4) Go to Jobs menu
5) Select Run Job (German: Job Einmal Ausfuhren [run job once])
6) Verify operation reports Okay”

Option 4: NCSexpert + ICOM cable

This method is a bit incomplete in regard to coding. It uses NCSexpert to edit the settings in the CAS and NFRM modules. Essentially, you are manually changing the settings in the CAS/NFRM module to reflect the new battery.

*****While this method seems like a straightforward way to code for battery changes, it fails to address the issue of vehicle order (VO). This could have implications for future coding and ZB updates.See option 5.

*****After completing this coding, you must still perform "Option 3" to register the new battery using Tool32. Or, you can use ISTA-D to do the registering, but then you might as well also use ISTA to do the programming at that point...

1) Load NCSExper.exe
2) Select a profile that has manipulation enabled: File>load profile> CNCcoding”
3) Select:F1>F3>select your chassis>select CAS
4) PressF6for back
5) PressF4to select a specific module Process ecu” then you get a list of all modules available for your car
6) Select CAS” then select READ ECU” this is going to read all the values from the specific module and create an FSW_PSW.TRC file with the values
8) Leave NCSExper.exe open and navigate to the work” folder ([X]:NCSEXPER_64WORK)

The FSW_PSW.TRC file we generated when we read” the CAS module is where we are going to change the battery settings. After making our changes, we will then change the file extension to the file type NCS uses to write to the selected module (.MAN).

At this point, you can also use a program called NCSDummy to make things easier. You can use NCSDummy to import the .TRC file. NCSDummy will provide translations and descriptions for all the settings in the CAS module. I will not cover the details on how to use NCSDummy, it is very easy if you search. The following steps continue with how you can just simply edit the .TRC file in notepad to achieve our goal of coding a new battery:

9) Open the generated FSW_PSW.TRC file with notepad
10) Select: File>save as>FSW_PSW.MAN (be sure to select save as type” to all files so that it will accept the .MAN” extension. If you fail to do so it will just save it as a text file .TXT)
11) Search for the option KLASSE_BATTERIE” and change the value from its current setting to a setting that most closely matches the rating of your new battery (e.g. 90ah” to 70ah” or if using an AGM battery 70ah_agm”) (seeAppendix E)
12) Select: File >Save
13) Back to NCS now hitF5for basic functions
14) Select coapiReadSgGetFswPsw” and then ok.” You are basically telling NCS to read all the values from your .MANfile. You will see a screen… just press ok. Then press ok again.

Ok now take a look where it says JOBNAME = CODIERDATEN_LESEN” We need to change that to a coding function because we want to write the changes to the module, not READ as we did earlier.

15) Select F2 job”
16) SelectSG_CODIERENand pressok
17) Then pressF3to execute the job. After a pause you will see the coding ended” message!

I am not sure if these steps are 100% what youll see. Its been a while since I coded my battery, but Ill update the steps as needed.

Instead of clicking "Process ECU", you can click "Process car" (F3), and then "Code Car" (F1). This will code every module in the car (might take longer like 5minutes) for the changes you made in the .MAN folder for the CAS module we read. There are changes that may need to be made in NFRM that this will take care of.

The battery rating should now be updated in the system. You can verify the coding was successful by performing the steps outlined inAppendix D.

Option 5: ISTA-D & ISTA-P+ ICOM cable

This is the proper method to manually code for changes to the battery. Your vehicle order (VO) stores all the information regarding the various hardware your car came with from the factory. For example, if your car came with a wet-cell 70ah battery, your VO will read out with attribute -B070 (see Appendix B). Now, lets say you used option 4, above, to manually change the CAS module to reflect a new 70ah AGM battery. Your VO will still reflect the old battery of –B070. You want your VO to be updated to read -A070 (see Appendix B).!

If you go to the dealer, their software (Rheingold/ISTA-D and ISTA-P) will read your VO and recommend diagnostic/programming changes as if you still have that old battery installed. Basically, their software would overwrite the changes you made in option 4 and set all the coding back to the settings that reflect the old battery!

This is also how people lose their DEALER flashed PPK tune. The dealer fails to perform the proper programming portion of the PPK flash and the VO is never updated to reflect the PPK tune is installed on the vehicle. Return visits to the dealer then results in the dealers software to recommends DME updates that overwrite the PPK dme software!If you properly update the VO then only software, and settings, that matches your cars hardware will be recommended!

Steps:Changing VO
1. Open NCSEXPER.exe
2. Select: File > Load profile > Select a profile that has manipulation enabled (CNCoding”) > Click OK
3. Press F1 (VIN/ZCS/FA)
4. Press F3 (CS/FA f. EC) > Select E89 (chassis family for E9x and E8x vehicles) > Click OK > Select CAS > Click OK
5. Press F6 (Back)
6. Press F1 (VIN/ZCS/FA)
7. Press F2 (Enter FA) > Select E89 > Click OK
8. A window labeled Enter VIN” appears with your vehicles VIN number filled in > Click OK
9. A window labeled Enter FA appears > scroll to find VO for old battery (-B090) > highlight –B090 and press delete on keyboard
10. Enter –A080 (seeAppendix B)in the Attribute” box > Click Add > Click OK
11. Press F6 (Back)

The CAS and NFRM/FRM modules will now always default back to the new attributes you assigned to the VO!

It is important to now use NCSExpert to code the car to the new VO settings. If you properly changed the VO, NCSExpert will automatically write the battery capacity and type settings to the various modules. This is what we did manually in option #4!

To see the current rate your battery is charging at, open the INPA program>> E90>>ENGINE>>MSD80>> Status(F5)>>PM-IBS>>PM FIELD 2. Under the PM Field option look at the ah reading registered, to see what it's set at to charge your battery at present. If it's incorrect, you need to re-try the options outlined above. Once you have done this, re-register your battery using the Tool32 program. Then go back into INPA and check the PM Field 2 again to see if the new ah reading has been registered.

Review 2:I think this is also the scantoolthe gentleman from the other thead was referencing to. I havent asked Voicey about it knowing he uses Texa the majority of the time. Basically what you'd need to do aclutch is to be able to write into the NCR (TCU) the newclutchconfiguration, reset the PIS, and run self learn. If you can do all of that your good as far as theclutchis concerned.

Review 3: I have a Launch here - it's firmly at the bottom of the pecking order ofdiagnostictoolsin our workshop.

When I first used it I thought it was a Chinese rip off/clone - that should give you an idea of what it's like to use. It does have somemoduleshowever there are so many revisions during a model run that you need to be lucky that it has the correct software version otherwise it'll misinform you at best and damage something at worst.

So to give you an idea of the quality of the launch - I did aclutch reading on aFerraribefore I left the workshop. The SD2 was at 44.78%. My other two premiumtoolswere within 0.5% of that figure. The launch was reading 29.85% - way off.

If the Launch was your onlytoolyou'd get into trouble real quickly.

Review 6: the scantoolis what interprets the numbers into the algorithm of theclutchwear.

So for instance, if I have a GS in front of me, it will take the closedclutchposition and the new closedclutchposition. These are the only numbers the NCR provides. The Scantoolis what takes those numbers, subtracts them, divides it from the thickness of a newclutch, multiplies it, and gives you the actualclutchwear. That algorithm is done with the software of the scantool. So, if that's off the reading is off, when you write the new parameters into the NCR it will be off, and the PIS will be off. If it misreads the new closedclutchposition, with the closedclutchposition you have no foundation for the algorithm either.

I can give you an example, I actually did a PPI on a GS about 6 months ago. Well the gentleman selling the car actually took the car to someone I've always felt was reputable. So I thought the gentleman selling the car was well to put it lightly embellishing what the actualclutchwear was in order to sell the car. I called the gentleman who did theclutchwear read out, KNOWING there's no way he misread it. He looked up the data from the receipt and actually confirmed what the guy told me. I was beside myself, but he did read it with the Leosystemand the read out was definitely wrong. I double checked my readings, and the algorithm to be sure I read it correctly. My read out was in line with a PPI that was done a year and half earlier by aMaseratidealership using theSD2/3as well.

My point to this is, even using the Leo he somehow messed up the read out. But that being stated if you had a scantoolthat far off to begin with, you don't want to mess with your car or someone else's. I'm glad Dave posted this from Aldous because what he is saying is true. If you're not careful you'll write something into the NCR that will have a huge impact on the drive-ability of the car. Then once it's done, how do you get it back to where it was with an inaccurate scantool? Even with a good scantool, once you write the new closed position in wrong, when you take the accurate scantoolyou'll be guessing at what it should be new. Round and round it will go.

The only way I can know the accuracy of the scantoolis to have it in front of me, someone asked me about it being a Unicorn if it could do what the gentleman said it could. Now that we have data from a reliable source, namely Voicey/J that has done this, I would say, no it's not a Unicorn. It's seems to be a good way to comatose the vehicle you are working on. Seems Jason is echoing the same thing with the updates. So, anyway, I'm glad we had guys chimed in on it before someone did mess their car up.

Download and install the upgrade tool software that comes with the device or via the official website Once the PC upgrade software is successfully installed, the following shortcut will be generated:

(Solved) Nexiq USB linkwith CAT ET: connection error 149

User issue:

I'm using a Nexiq USB linkwith CAT ET 2011b and I need some help with connection settings.

I was getting the error code 149 with CAT ET when trying to connect to an excavator yesterday. Since then, I've updated the drivers for the USB link but if anyone else has had similar issues, could you let me know what else to look for please?

Solution 1:

you can only connect with Nexiq engines on setting siguiebnte is the way:

Run ET

Go to and look for the connection prefgerencias (RP1210 mechanism Approved)

Ok, you ready configured to work with the Nexiq.

Solution 2:

First use a Nexiq -> Device tester , disable bluetooth .

Solution 3:

Utilities -> Preferences -> Communications -> RP1210 Compilant Device then Advanced Choose USB Nexiq Link

If it doesnt work,

Reinstall drivers and verify that you have this in the device manager

JUNGO USB LINK WINDRIVER if you missing one of this it wont work

Solution 4:

Select " USB-Link J1708 (137) - NEXIQ (NNT, Inc.) " for wired connection.

There are several nexiq options to choose from. You may have selected the wrong one. Here is a link for the nexiq user manual if you don't have it already.

Solution 5:

From the connection menu select :

  1. Interface module
  2. Serial to USB PORT number

That is what I did.

Solution 6:

In order to get the Nexiq adapterto work on windows 7, you need to run this program in compatibility mode for windows xp, sp 3. i was getting the same notice that my nexiq was not a rp1210 compliant device, i went to programs and selected cat (etech), right clicked, properties, compatibility, and chose windows xp sp3. went back to cat, and the device works perfectly now. that will fix this issue

Note: Nexiq USB link with cat ET 2011b can not and excavator pump control the ECM / display communication (CDL Protocol) , support the engine ECM communication (J1939 protocol)

DPA5 is better than the DPA4+ in that it supports OBD-II protocols other than J1850VPW and CAN, it also has the long range bluetooth and comes with a bluetooth dongle for your PC. It has a metal case, rubber shock caps, secure USB and long diagnostic cables unlike the 6" Nexiq cables. It is dual CAN, has a large buffer and works well with any application.

Having ever used the Nexiq USB Link or Nexiq USB Link 2, I can't say I really prefer it so much as until fairly recently I didn't even know there was so many other options as those two are almost the entirety of what I ever see. Only after recently purchasing a Nexiq USB Link 2 did I begin to realize that so much else (aside from OEM 'boxes') was even available.

So far I'm still pleased with the Link 2, but had I done a bit more digging prior to buying it I certainly would have compared it to the DPA5 and might have gone that route just given what I've found out about them so far.

About the only complaints I have with the Link 2 so far are the increased price of the adapter cables vs the original (or even other current models) and that connecting via Bluetooth is quite the chore for some reason compared to other (in general) devices. Given how long the USB cable is though, I'm not terribly concerned with the Bluetooth connectivity.

Subaru SSM 3review:

I have one off The only time it came in handy was when i used it to recalibrate the steering angle sensor. The software was a pain to get setup and working properly.

It definitely does more than a regular scanner(FreeSSM cable), but I rarely use those features. In fact, you don't need a scanner at all to access DTCs and ABS codes. Just plug the diagnostic connectors together and do a couple other things that I can't remember and the codes will flash in the gauge cluster.

It just depends on if you think having complete access to all the systems in the car is worth it. It's nice to have when I need it. I had a VDC code that was for thesteering angle sensor. Rather than go to the dealer, I just busted out the knock off SSM and calibrated it in the driveway.

Some things I couldn't get to work. I tried to reprogram a new key with it, but you need a code from the dealer. I also messed up my TPMS. I was messing around and accidentally cleared the calibration. To recalibrate them you need a special tool that puts the sensors into learning mode. I never could find a reasonably priced tool that was verified to work with my sensors.

So, if you feel all the features are worth it then you'll like it. At this point it's just a novelty for me. I haven't used it in a long, long time. I posted up a screen shot of the menu for SSM III, so you can see all the different things you can access.

Another thing to consider is that it is a pain to get to work. SSM requires a code to gain access. I had to search all over the internet to figure out how to get it working properly. It's been so long I can't remember exactly how I did it. I still get error codes when trying to connect to my car, but it connects just fine.
